Gardening

I spent the day today working in my yard.  I had quite a few tasks that needed finishing and today was a great sunny day for doing them.   I had one trip to the Fred Meyer Garden Center, where I managed to spend $175, and then 5 hours of invigorating gardening.   It’s days like these that I really miss my condo.
One of the more expensive items I bought today was a hedge trimmer.   I had never owned a hedge trimmer up until today.   I’m now the proud owner of a brand spanking new Black and Decker 18” dual-action hedge trimmer.   I had also never trimmed a hedge until today.   What fun that is.
I also purchased some peppers and tomatoes.   I’m pretty sure they’re going to die because it’s too early to plant them up as high as my house is.   I’m gambling though that we can scrape through May with no more frosts.   We’ll see.   I’m actually planning to put in a lot more than what I got today, but I didn’t really want to gamble with more than just a few.   I’ll put the rest in later this month.   Here are some pictures of what went in today.   You’ll also see some herbs that I planted.   Hopefully they will be more resistant to any frosts that happen.

In all it was a pretty productive day.   I killed some moss, killed some weeds, planted some garden plants, trimmed my hedge and a tree that needed it.   I worked 100 pounds of steer manure into the soil in my garden.   You certainly can’t beat that for fun.
