I go through a lot of consumables in my house. I’m addicted to paper towels. I blow through deodorant a pace that my wife finds absurd. I also use a lot of dental floss. One high volume consumable at my house that is surprising is wine glasses. I go through stemware at a pretty phenomenal rate.
I drink wine pretty regularly, that is to say, I have some almost every day. As such, I have to wash wine glasses pretty much every day. I occasionally drop them, but far more often I pull them apart. It not that rip the stem from glass, it’s that I pull the glass apart across its rim. I don’t feel like I’m washing it all that hard but for some reason they just keep coming apart on me. It’s always the same; I’m using a soapy sponge to go around the rim of the glass and wash all the lip prints off and the glass just comes apart. Last night it came apart in about 10 pieces, one of which cut into my index finger and left me bleeding like a stuck pig. I was very annoyed.
I’m not quite sure what to do about this dilemma. I could never imagine washing them in the dish washer. I could buy more heavy duty wine glasses, but I really prefer not to drink out of that cheap, thick rimmed stemware. Oh what to do? Maybe I should have someone else do the dishes?
Or drink less?
